For the past week, Isaac has not been feeling well. It all started last Friday afternoon when I got a call from his daycare. I hate seeing that number on my caller id, I immediately went into panic mode. Well, it was about 1pm and they had tried to feed him twice and both times he threw EVERYTHIING up. So, basically he hadn't kept anything in his stomach since the night before. Since they sounded a little freaked out at HOW he threw up. When I got there she was telling me that after his bottle they put him in one of the chairs attached to the table. I think a couple of minutes had passed and he started to choke, then his face turned red and he projectile vomitted. I decided to take him to the doctor to see if there was anything we could do to help him feel better. The doctor checked his ears and said that they were RED (they are suppposed to be white). So, that can make him throw up like that? She said yes, and gave me some Amoxicillan to give to him......whew, on our way to recovery.
Well, not so fast......we started the Amoxicillan Friday night and he kept his next few bottles down. Then on Saturday night we went to see our friends Stephanie and Omar (thinking he was feeling better). Well, after being there for a little while we all settled in to watch a movie and before I knew it he threw up on their couch...how embarassing. He got MOST of it on himself and the blanket I was covering him with, but still...I felt so bad. Anyway, we went home and stayed in on Sunday (poor thing slept a lot). And he kept everything down...woohoo! He was also fine on Monday and Tuesday at daycare...no "episodes". He was playful and so funny those couple of days and I just knew that he was over his throwing up sessions. So, Tuesday evening, Isaac and I went to my friend Marlaina's house since it had been a little while since she's seen him. And he was fine there too......he got a little fussy when I put him in the car, so it was a quick good-bye so we could get rolling and he could stop crying. Well, he hadn't stopped by the time I hit the first stop sign so I got out to find his pacifier and give it to him. OH MY GOSH!!! Bless his heart, I found out at this point why the daycare workers were a little freaked out. When I got back there he was SOAKED with throw-up. I had never seen so much. He was obviously still crying, so as I was trying to get him unbuckled and out of his carseat he starts gagging and his face turned red for a second......I got him out and turned down toward his seat and started patting his back......MORE throw-up. It was so sad...... I wrapped him up and took him back to Marlaina's house since I was still so close. He had calmed down and was actually smiling when we got back. So, we changed him and cleaned out the carseat (well, just took it apart). And I was on my way......Thanks, girl, for all your help that night. :-)
Wednesday morning I called made an appointment with a different doctor for a second opinion. He took his first bottle that morning, and was fine for his appointment. She said it appeared to be a stomach virus. His ears looked fine now. I was just confused on the randomness of all the throwing up. So, we went home and I fed him and gave him a half dose of the Amoxicillan since I was a little late in giving it to him...just to make sure his ears were PERFECTLY healed from the ear infection. Well, he threw up like 10 minutes later. :-( So, I called the second Dr. back and she had me take him off of it since his ears looked fine, but to monitor him and call back if he starts throwing up EVERY meal. Well, thankfully he has been fine since then. Apparently he had a reaction to the Amoxicillan......even though he didn't throw up every time I gave it to him.
Well, I'm so glad he's doing better......I hated seeing him that sick.
I love this picture......Right before we went to visit Marlaina.
